This year marks the 30th anniversary of the National Lottery. From 2013 to 2022, I completed three art projects with the Arts Council England National Lottery Project Grant. My journey over the past decade is deeply intertwined with the support from the Arts Council England National Lottery Grant, for which I am profoundly grateful. So, this is a continuation of the third ACE-supported project, ‘A Letter to the Earth from Beatrix,’ held at Allan Bank in 2022. Let me share the images of the workshops, artist talk and more! Looking back on my journey, however, with each successful project, the path becomes steeper, making me feel like a mountaineer aiming for a lofty peak. I will continue to take on new challenges, so please look forward to it!

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the National Lottery. From 2013 to 2022, I completed three art projects with the Arts Council England National Lottery Project Grant. My journey over the past decade is deeply intertwined with the support from the Arts Council England National Lottery Grant, for which I am profoundly grateful. Now, the third ACE-supported project, ‘A Letter to the Earth from Beatrix,’ held at Allan Bank in 2022. This project was inspired by the passion for ecological sustainability passed down from the Romantic poet laureate William Wordsworth to one of the founders of the National Trust, Hardwicke Rawnsley, and to the renowned children’s book author Beatrix Potter. It was Potter who embodied this enthusiasm herself. Focusing on her, I have developed a concept inspired by her multifaceted legacy and realised this project in collaboration with the National Trust at Allan Bank in Grasmere, where Wordsworth and Rawnsley once lived. I will share the details of this project with you!

Here, I would like to share the second ACE-supported touring project, “Conversation with Ruskin,” commemorating the 200th anniversary of John Ruskin’s birth. This time, it was toured to The Ruskin at Lancaster University in early 2020. I was honoured to undertake this significant project at this world academic centre and museum dedicated to Ruskin's legacy, and I am pleased to present scenes from the exhibition!

So, this is the final piece of the boar, I completed with my signature line hatching method! It's entitled ‘Wild Boar, a Country Gentleman’. It was quite a journey to attain the goal, but I'm pleased with it! Soon, I'll share some pictures of the real estate sign with this Wild Boar character. Stay tuned!😊

Well, as I mentioned in my previous post, let me show you the second attempt of the boar as a country gent. This time I developed the character with a deerstalker hat inspired by Sherlock Holmes as you see! But, sadly the drawing was rejected due to divergent opinions among the decision-making committee members. The character seemed too cartoony and lucked some comical but serious elements like all other animal portraits I created for my previous project. What do you think? Anyway, please stay tuned to see how the characterisation of the country gent boar has evolved further in the coming days!
